NOKIA E Series Internet call and SIP Settings
I have recently purchased Nokia E63. So far all I would say that it is really worth the price. It has many features one of the best thing I like about the phone is Voip client which can use WiFi connection as well.
There is no need of additional softwares to use these settings.
I am registered to few SIP enabled voip services such as Freecall and Actionvoip. International calls with these are really cheaper.
If you own one of the e series phone you can use the settings to configure you phone to use sip for making calls.
Below are the steps to configure Voip Client on Phone
Navigate to Home > Tools > Settings > Connection > SIP Setting
Select Option > New SIP Profile
Profile Name: Any Name
Service Profile: IETF
Default Access point: Your Wi-Fi Network or Internet Connection
Public user name: username@sip.provider.com(sip.actionvoip.com)
Use Compression: No
Registration: Always on (or the other one, if you want it to be on-demand)
Use Security: No
Proxy Server: Do nothing
Registrar Settings
- Registrar Server address: sip.provider.com
- Realm: sip.provider.com
- User Name: username
- Password: password
- Transport Type: UDP
- Port: 5060
Once you are done with this
Navigate to Home > Tools > Settings > Connection > Internet Tel.
Select Options > New Profile and Name it.
Select SIP profile created above
And Now you are done.
Go to contacts and you will see Internet Call in the options and make a test call.
Enjoy Voip calls on your Mobile.

Hi…I use Nokia E52, with the default nokia voip application with sip providers like Rynga and Jumblo. It is excellent. However, I am unable to configure it to work with mediaringtalk. Their customer service is crap and you are lucky if they ever reply to you.
I believe, they send a message to your phone with the SIP config details which has to be saved as default. Can someone who is using it on Nokia E51 or any supported handset pls publish their config details. That way we can get it to work on any Nokia VOIP supported handset….

i m using voipraider for int. calls and i did sip settings in my phone too. i m using E71. i found one DID number provider for free and got 10 DID numbers. how can i assign that did number to my voipraider account?

and the voip call charges how much? is it totally free??

I m using E71 with 3 network in Australia too. u need to connect to ur local wifi connection to make a call from e63 or select ‘mobile internet’ option in service provider place.

I have E71 & m using smartvoip & followed same instruction as u have mentioned.
for some days i could use properly, but from yesterday, whenever i make a voip call, it says connection error. Let me tell you, i m using it in China.

also absolutely no sip settings are to be configured separately for mediaringtalk.
You just have to download what is callwd s dialer, and you are good to go.regards,dr.basu

I think you should write about mediaringtalk.com in your blog. It appears to be the only medium to make really free calls from india to the us.

I dont think you can install TUITALK on E63.
Also ActionVoip was used as a reference.
To use Voip servise you will need SIP Settings for that Provider, if they provide. You can check their FAQ’s or website.
I live in Australia so I dont have any clue of free VOIP call Providers in US.
I have been using action voip and voip raider ofr about 4 years now and they are cheap and good in quality.
SIP Settings are not hidden. You actually have to configure it to use them. Every provider has their own SIP settings. You will have to visit their website for those details.
Also you will need an internet connection or a DataPack on your mobile to make VOIP calls as it uses internat for making calls.
So if you are away from home and try to make a SIP call it will use internet of your mobile carrier and they will charge you for the data usage so be careful.
For making free call please use google. I dont know any providers.

Thank you for your helpful posts.You do a great service to people like me who own a smartphone and that’s almost all about it.They continue to grope in the dark, armed with little,no, or incorrect information, and fail to make full use of the purchased device,defeating the very purpose of the purchase.
The customer care officers are absolutely useless,at least in India,and, i feel, are paid ONLY to mislead people who are stupid enough to call them up.
However,although you have written about freecall and action voip, i am surprised that you have NOT mentioned mediaringtalk which allows ABSOLUTELY FREE voip calls to ALL kinds of phones in the U.S.
When an Indian sets foot overseas,the onus of calling home almost always rests on him/her.But with this application the parents/other members can call them up at will via a PC or CELLPHONE(smartphone)
However,having said that,i MUST add that although calling friends up from my PC has been a breeze, the same is NOT true of the application via NOKIA E 63.
I would be obliged if you could PLEASE guide me regarding how to use the application from my phone.
Let me elaborate on my problem.
I have been able to download “S-DIAL” on my phone.On visiting the website,i find my registration successful,but,on attempting to log in,i repeatedly get the error message:REGISTRATION FAILED:INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.
This has been the state of affairs for the last ONE WEEK.
I find the FAQ section rather confusing.Are SIP settings required?If yes,what are they? How do i get them?
Could you PLEASE help somehow?

I tried to setup smartvoip in my Nokia E71 phone. I followed exactly same steps mentioned in this email thread and able to registered successfully with smart voip SIP. However while making a call I get connection error. When I make any call, dialed number automatically changes to <Dialed Phone Number>@sip.smartvoip.com. Am I missing any configuration?

In regards with connection error I am sure you have missed something. I dont have E71 but please make sure you have typed in correct details.

I setup wifi in my home and office too . In my home yesterday Night I found my Internet call registered with my NokiaE63 phone.
Maybe it is service provider problem to access VOIP call.

Are you trying to make a call when you are at home ?
You will need an access to internet to make calls. If you have set up a Wi-Fi on an Home Network and you are away from home you will not be able to make a call through internet.In that case you will require a data pack from your service provider.
Also before trying to make a call through Voip please make sure that you are able to access internet on youe mobile.
Let me know. I will try to help you with the problem if its not because of internet

Thank you so much. It worked perfectly for me! Previously I made few attempts at setting it up, failed and started using Fring’s SIP feature. Thanks to you, now I can make SIP calls straight from the contacts.

When you say call a mobile/landline is it through your Service provide ?
In the contact list, select a contact you want to call.
Press the right button and a list will appear
1)Voice Call : Uses your plan/prepaid account
2)Internet Call : Uses Sip provider (Number should be in International format)
3)Send text msg.
4)Send multim.msg ….

Can it be used to call a mobile/landline number. I’m using E63 too and I can call a SIP number via internet call, but when I dial a mobile number, it shows connection faild. In the call history it shows the mobilenumber@sip.sipdomain.com.
How is your experience? How to make it call mobile/landline over SIP?

Hi,
Do one thing.
Select any number and make an internet call.
Once you do that and it is not registered. It Will ask you to register. Click yes and it will place the call for you after registration.
Thats the only thing that I can suggest. It should work.
Also Make sure your able to access WI-Fi from your mobile first.

Once you do it, It will be displayed as “sip:sip.smartvoip.com ”
